[The former would be probable if he hadn't spent six years on the Ring with Bellamy.

But he did, so that simplifies matters a great deal.]

Six years on the Ring, and you were their leader. Even if you don't remember that, it carries a lot of weight.

You're family.

If he's gone, he's gone. I don't mean that flippantly, it's just ...

I know he wouldn't just ditch without saying anything to you if he had a choice in the matter.

[It's hard to explain that relationship, especially with its beginnings. But she means it.]

There really is a lot I've missed.

[Because from where Bellamy's standing, disappearing without a trace is kind of Murphy's MO.]

You never told me why people disappear so much around here.

We don't know. Some of us had theories back in the day based on instability and connections to this world, but I don't know myself. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to it. You can't guess who comes in and is likely to disappear the next day.

Let me guess. No one who disappears and comes back remembers anything.

No, actually. I disappeared and came back and remembered everything. That's the issue. Us disappearing can involve us returning. Usually the returns are faster.

I know you're staying down there with him. I think it's a good thing.

[Clarke had said that Murphy had a tie to Bellamy that she could never have with him. That remains true, and it's obvious that Bellamy's taken that to heart here.]

But any chance of him seeing reason before we open the door? I'm worried he might go somewhere we can't find him after he leaves.

I'll talk to him, but it depends on what you mean by "seeing reason". He's scared.

Coming in right after a simulation held us captive isn't going to help, is it?

No, probably not. He's taking this whole thing worse than I expected.

[strove]

He had a near-brush with death before he got here. In the day or two that followed, it showed that he wasn't dealing with it well.

[That should be enough of an answer, but the thought of wanting to get back to Sanctum being dismissed ...

Clarke knows he hasn't seen outside yet.]

And getting caught in a bunker being unable to leave? That's not good, either. I can see the problem.

I have to admit, I wouldn't have guessed "afraid." Did he tell you?

Pretty much.

[He "told" Bellamy via forced empathy bond, but whatever.]

I don't get the feeling he's going to run off. He might do something stupid about the implant, though.

The first time he was here, he refused to leave the safehouse. He didn't take me or ... that Bellamy at our word that we wanted him with us.

[So, it's not new to her. That's what she's saying.]

I'd prefer to keep him close. I want to help him.

[Because like it or not, she does care a lot about Murphy. As much as their relationship can be ... full of friction, he's one of theirs. She feels the same responsibility to him.

And she assumes Bellamy feels the same way.]

So do I. I think a few boring days in the safehouse will do him some good.

[Once he realizes no one there is going to harvest his brain or something.]

I tried to take off when I got here.

[Time to put that out there.]

You were here, but I was hoping to find some footing for the three of us. Something that we could carve out and make our own.

In hindsight, it wasn't my best move.

You still want to carve something out for us, Clarke. You're just doing it differently.

I had you and Murphy for a while, but then you were gone. I thought ... well, I knew I wanted to stay here before. At least for the time I wouldn't have you, or anyone in the bunker. It was be here or be alone, at least until I found Madi.
